When I Fell in Love Episode 11

KIKI

“Dude’s pretty loaded! You’re so lucky B.” Erica sang as we exited the mall clutching the shopping bags with both hands.

“You can say that again B.” I said as we dumped the bags in the back seat of the car.

We got into the car and out on the road heading home. I could see Dwayne’s men following me in the distance and I didn’t make any attempts to lose them.

“That reminds me, what did Gerald say about the fact finding thing?” Erica asked turning down the volume of the car radio.

“I haven’t called him back yet. I wanna give him some time to get as much info as he can.” I said shooting her a quick glance before returning my attention to the busy road.

Dwayne gave me ten thousand just for shopping. That’s too much to spend in a day. I need to know if he’s got some other source of income apart from repairing cars that I need to know about.

“What’d you find out about the cook?” I asked impatiently as soon as Rick opened the car for me to get in.

“He’s currently in Toronto Sir but the weird thing is that he’s still funded by your family and driving company cars even after his resignation.” He stated and I cocked up my brows in surprise.

“Who’s responsible for executing this funding?” I queried curiously.

“Your sister Sir.” He announced after a little pause and I shook my head in confusion.

“What? But how? Why?” I stuttered trying to process the information.

“And about the guy on Diane’s phone Sir, I’ve confirmed that he’s actually her step brother. What I’ve not yet found out is his mother’s identity.”

This is fishy and very ridiculous. Firstly, my dad’s cook is still living off my family’s money and secondly, my sister is the one paying his bills? That’s crazy!

I whipped out my phone and dialed Nicole’s number. She picked up at the second ring and I ordered her to meet me in my Sterling heights apartment.

A few minutes after my arrival at the apartment, Nicole also arrived and I wasted no time in bombarding her with questions.

“Look Travie, it’s clear that I’m being framed here. If Dad was killed by this dude then why on Earth would I be sending him money?” She asked almost in tears.

“Then how come that your account statement says otherwise?” I barked getting upset and confused.

“I swear to you Travie, I have no idea. Why would you suppose that I killed my own father?” She said pleadingly and slumped into one of the sofas sobbing and wiping her eyes.

“I believe you okay? Now we just gotta find out who’s been posing as you to move this money.” I said after a long sigh.

“Do you know this guy?” I queried pointing the phone screen at her. On it was displayed the photo of Diane’s brother.

“I’ve seen him before but I don’t remember where.” She answered shaking her head.

“Who’s he?” She inquired.

“Diane’s older brother.”

“That’s impossible, thought Diane doesn’t have any siblings.”

“Thought so too until I found out. What I don’t know is who his mother is and why his existence has been a secret.”

“So what’s our next move now?”

“I’ve asked Rick and the guys to find out where these transactions are being made from. We’ll know who’s manipulating your account.”

“I also have a plan. How bout I get close to this ‘brother’?” She suggested making air quotes and biting her lips in thought.

“Now you’re talking. I’ll have Rick find out about his schedule.” I concluded and as if on cue, a little knock sounded on the door of the study where Nicole and I were seated.

It turned out to be my housekeeper announcing the arrival of my tattooist. I’d totally forgotten about my appointment with her.

“I’ll have to go get tatted now, we’ll talk later.” I announced as I returned into the room.

“What are you getting?” She asked picking up her purse.

“It’s a secret.” I answered sealing my lips with my fingers.

“Sounds like a girl secret.” She teased with a smirk and got up to leave.

“See you later Travie!” She sang as I held the door open for her before following behind her.

“You spent the whole day getting tatted up?” Kiki queried raising up her brows.

“Yeah what about it?” I asked with a grin.

“Sounds like a chore.” She ranted rolling her eyes.

“Don’t you wanna see it?” I whispered in her ear as I grabbed her waist tight while she struggled trying to get free from my hold.

“Let me go first Dwayne.” She said amidst loud laughter as I tickled her non-stop.

“Show it to me already.” She managed to say while still laughing so hard as she was now sitting astride on my legs.

“Right and left arm, you check it out yourself.” I suggested with a wink raising my hands up for her to pull off my tee.

“I fell in love with a Floridian Flower.” She read out the words In ink on my right arm before moving to the left arm with a little smile on her face. Gosh! She’s blushing too!!

“I’m in love with a baddie named Kiki.” She continued reading and started laughing.

“You spent your day getting these?” She yelled in surprise.

“I sure did.” I said with a grin.

“I love you so much baby.” She said like she was going to cry and pressed her lips on mine. Such a drama queen. That’s just how we got down and dirty right there on the couch.

“My hair’s totally messed up.” Kiki said grabbing my arm.

“Ouch!” I winced as she grabbed the sore spot of the tattoos.

“Oh my God! I’m sorry.” She apologized clasping her hands on her mouth on realizing that she must have hurt me real bad.

“How bout you console me with another round huh?” I suggested with a naughty smirk.

“You crazy or high on crack?” She asked trying to get off of me but I held her down kissing on her neck.

I finally stopped kissing on her when my phone rang on the living room table. It was Noah (one of the guards who’ve been looking after Kiki) calling.

“What now Noah?” I asked frustrated as I put the phone to my ear.

He wanted to let me know that someone was running an in-depth background check on me and is using government resources which only meant that he or she was close to discovering my real identity.

“I don’t care whoever it is, just stall it and find who’s on the other end.” I barked angrily before hanging up the phone. How he’s going to prevent them from finding out that I’m living a lie with a fake passport is none of my business. What concerns me actually is who the heck is doing that.

“Is everything okay with you?” Kiki asked as she observed my change of countenance.

“Yeah I’m good. Let’s just go to bed” I replied calmly trying my hardest to prevent myself from huffing and puffing as I stood up and took her hand.

The next morning was a beautiful one, I ate breakfast with Dwayne before he left for work. Since I was sleeping over at his place, I decided to go back to mine’s and get changed.

There’s a whole lot on my plate today. Gerald has been blowing up my phone since morning. He’s gathered enough information about Dwayne. I’m so restless! I mean what if I find out something about him that I don’t like? or a secret of his that’s just too dark to deal with?

As I thought about these things, my mind flashed back to the fact that he’s got some people following me around I need to move subtly.

Erica and I also had plans. I’m supposed to help her pick out some stuff for the big surprise that she’s planning for her boyfriend on their one year anniversary.

“Thanks Again Gerald, I’m so grateful.” I sang excitedly as I collected the file from him and opened the car door to get down.

“You found yourself a good man Kiki, don’t lose him.” Gerald said with a small smile as the wrinkles that were forming on his face became a whole lot more visible.

“Sure thang. I wish I could treat you a lap dance like old times.” I said with a little laugh and gave him a peck on the right cheek.

“Yeah, I miss those times young lady.” He chuckled weakly as I got down from the cop car waving him goodbye.

I got into my car and as impatient as I was, I opened up the files and started to go through them. Dwayne came out squeaky clean! Never been arrested, got good grades in school, never got a speeding ticket or anything like that.

Dwayne was and is, a good boy who’s bout his business repairing cars and making good money.

I scoffed and tossed the papers into the backseat of the car hitting the road to Erica’s house.
